Thunder Valley Expansion Topic of July Breakfast

Douglas Elmets, President of Elmets Communications, will address the Rocklin Area Chamber’s Good Morning Rocklin breakfast meeting on Thursday, July 9 at Whitney Oaks Golf Club. Elmets will be speaking about Thunder Valley Casino’s expansion. Already under construction, the expansion will feature additional gaming space, a hotel, parking garage, pool and spa as well as

other exciting amenities. It is scheduled to open in the summer of 2010. Elmets is a leading expert in the field of communications with an extensive background in public relations, government relations and political affairs. Having served in both the public and private sectors, he specializes in communications counseling for Native

American Indian tribes, Fortune 500 companies, trade associations, land developers, local governments and municipalities. Prior to starting Elmets Communications, Elmets was the manager of government and public relations for oil giant Arco, working in Los Angeles and Sacramento for more than six years. As Arco’s chief lobbyist, he was responsible for managing the company’s

government and public relations on the state level as well as with local California municipalities. Before moving to California, Elmets was press secretary and chief spokesman for the U.S. Department of Energy during President Reagan’s second term in office. He also served as the deputy assistant secretary of energy for external affairs. During the first four years of the Reagan Administration, Elmets held several key positions in the White House including executive assistant to director

of presidential personnel, executive assistant to the director of White House communications, and White House spokesman for domestic issues.

The July Chamber breakfast is on Thursday, July 9 and will begin at 7:30 a.m. Breakfasts are held at Whitney Oaks Golf Club, 2305 Clubhouse Drive in Rocklin. The cost for members is $20 per person with a reservation and $25 per person at the door. For nonmembers,
