I love Darrel Steinberg’s comment after being caught trying to hide a personal $10 million “earmark” expenditure in the CA Water Bond Bill. His comment was “Frankly, if I have the opportunity to use the power I have to further civil rights and to further California history in any way, I’m going to do that”. The only history that Steinberg and many others in the California Legislature may “further” is the Governmental messes, the financial mess, the budget messes, the water mess, and the educational mess, we Californians have had to suffer through for many years. As a taxpayer, I would be very happy to tie Steinberg’s name, along with many other members of the Legislature, to this part of California history. They have certainly earned their place in this history.
