I have been watching the battle between the Democrats and the Republican over extending the Unemployment benefits. I can understand both sides. The unemployed, through no fault of their own, need help now. The taxpayers don’t want or need anymore debt to be repaid in the future. What I don’t understand is, with hundreds of billions of dollars of unspent “Stimulus” money available to stimulate the economy, what better way to kill two birds with one stone than but by putting Stimulus money in the hands of millions of unemployed and let them stimulate the economy. What the heck is the argument about??? The problem is it’s an election year and the Democrats feel they need to beat up the Republicans for political purposes. Of course the Republicans feel they need to hold the Democrats to the “Pay as you go” promises they all signed on to.

In earlier life I used to listen to a radio station that referred to Washington as a “Logic Free Zone”. It’s a pretty good description of the Government in “action” (?).
