The Placer County Board of Supervisors

Several years ago the voters of Placer County decided to cap Supervisor's salaries at $30,000.00. At the time I think it was appropriate.

Now it is time to raise the Supervisor's salaries to at least $60,000. If the $30,000.00 in 1987 was adjusted by the CPI, it would be about $60,000.00.

In the last couple of elections we had supervisors running unopposed. One of the reasons, I believe is that the job pays nothing for the work involved.

The only people that can afford to run are either retired on a pension or have some other kind of income that is not reduced by the time spent being a supervisor.

If we want more people to run, we need to change the compensation rules.
